How it works

A Wordbloom poster is a picture drawn out of words. Here is the whole process, in order, from the picture you start with to the poster on your wall.

Creating your own

01

Upload a picture

Open the editor and upload the image your poster will be shaped like: a portrait, a silhouette, a pet, a building, a place. The editor turns it into an outline. Pictures with a clear shape and good contrast between subject and background work best; a busy photo with no obvious shape will not. You can move and resize the picture inside the poster until it sits where you want it.

02

Type your words

Paste or type the text that will fill the shape: wedding vows, song lyrics, a letter, a speech, a poem, a chat history. A single sentence works, and so do a few hundred words. The letters are placed inside the outline one after another until the picture is drawn entirely out of your text. With less text the letters are spread out; with more, the image becomes denser and more detailed.

03

Shape the poster

Choose a typeface from a set of seven, switch it to italic if you like, and pick the colour of the letters and of the background. The palette is limited to colours we have tested in print, so what you see on screen is close to what arrives (more on the materials page). Adjust the level of detail until the picture reads the way you want. The preview updates as you make changes, and your draft is saved in your browser so you can come back to it.

04

Choose size, frame and format

Press Buy Poster. Sizes run from A4 to A0, with the dimensions and a scale chart beside each option. Sizes A4 to A1 can be framed in black, white or oak; A0 comes unframed. Choose between a printed poster, which includes the digital file, or the digital file only, print-ready in every size. You can add more sizes to the same order. The price is shown per option, delivery included, together with an estimated delivery date (full list on the pricing page).

05

Pay securely

Payment is handled by Stripe, the same processor used by companies like Amazon and Shopify. You pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, depending on your country, on Stripe's secure page; your card details never pass through Wordbloom. The price you see is the price you pay, in your currency, with no fees added at checkout.

06

Receive your poster

Right after payment, your confirmation page prepares the digital file of your poster and you can download it straight away; the links stay valid for 30 days. The printed poster goes into production on museum-quality matte paper and is shipped to your door, worldwide, framed and ready to hang or rolled in protective packaging. Starting from a readymade

Buy it as it is

The gallery holds finished designs, each drawn from a text written for it, most in more than one colourway. Open one, choose the colourway, size and frame, and buy. Readymade posters are sold as printed posters; steps 04 to 06 above apply in the same way.

Or make it yours

Every readymade has a Customise this design button that opens it in the editor with the picture, the text and the colours already loaded. Change the words, the colours or the typeface, or replace the picture. From there it continues as a custom poster: custom pricing, the digital file included with a printed order, and the digital-only option.

Good to know

Digital files. Every poster made in the editor comes with its print-ready file, whether you order a print or the digital option alone. Readymade posters are sold as prints only.

Delivery. Shipping is included in every price, worldwide. The estimated delivery date for your country is shown at checkout before you pay.

Returns. The right of withdrawal and how to return a poster are set out on the returns page. Custom posters are made to your text, so please check the preview carefully before ordering.
